Type of Event: Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

Location of Event: Intersection of STH 29 and 300th St..

Persons Involved:   Erica M. Strandt 20 years old-Chippewa Falls, WI-Deceased
                            Gregg R. Erwin  47 years of age-Boyd, WI-minor injures

Agencies Involved: Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Stanley Police Department, Boyd Fire and EMS, and Mayo 1.

Details of Event: On Monday 09/28/15 at 8:22pm the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a report of 2 vehicle crash with injury on State Highway 29 at 300th St. in the Township of Edson. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office along with Stanley Police Department, Boyd Edson Delmar Fire Department, Boyd Ambulance Service, and Mayo 1 responded. Preliminary investigation suggests a vehicle traveling northbound (Operated by Gregg R. Erwin) on 300th St failed to yield to a vehicle traveling westbound on STH 29, striking the driver’s side of the vehicle (operated by Erica M. Strandt). The operator (Erica M. Strandt) of the vehicle traveling westbound on STH 29 was pronounced dead at the scene.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
