The purpose of the Chippewa County Stewardship Program is to assist municipalities, local units of government, and non-profit organizations to meet land conservation and resource management objectives in the County.

Annually, the Land Conservation & Forest Management Committee reviews the program objectives and sets priorities for funding allocations.  Notice is then given to all towns, villages, cities, and nonprofit 501c(3) conservation organization of matching grant funds available through the Chippewa County Stewardship Program through a Class II Legal Notice.

Matching grant funds must be used to acquire land or conservation easements for the purpose of farmland or natural resources protection, public trail acquisition, or expanded public hunting and fishing opportunities in Chippewa County.  Public access is a priority of all grant awards.
