Mission Statement: Represent the people of Chippewa County through aggressive, fair and effective prosecution, ensuring impartial and balanced justice that holds people accountable for their actions.  Concerns for the protection of the public and the well being of the victims of crimes guide the trial practice, policy development, and program implementation.

Policy: The District Attorney’s Office fulfills its mission statement by providing strong leadership in victim advocacy, domestic abuse prosecutions, child abuse prosecutions, sex abuse prosecutions, substance abuse prosecution, drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs, and a youth court program.  In addition, the District Attorney’s office prosecutes criminal cases brought to it by various local and state agencies, including but not limited to the Department of Justice, Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations, Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services.  The District Attorney’s Office prosecutes county and state traffic violations, ordinance violations, child support cases and any and all other criminal matters brought under the Juvenile Code.  The Deferred Acceptance of Guilty Plea (DAGP) agreements are offered to defendants accused of domestic violence, accused of failing to pay child support, and Operating after Revocation.  The Intoxicated Driver Intervention Program (IDIP) is offered to defendants accused of criminal OWI offenses.  These diversion programs contain a component of education, counseling and/or treatment.  The participants are expected to go through processes intended to prevent recidivism and reduce overall caseload.  The District Attorney’s Office contracts with an agency to act as a diversionary agent in the collection of worthless checks.

Office Duties:   Reviews and prosecutes violations of Wisconsin Statutes within Chippewa County, including but not limited to, criminal and civil matters, welfare fraud, juvenile delinquency  and other matters as set forth in Chapter 978, Wisconsin Statutes.
