Human Health Hazards are substances, activities or conditions that are known to have the potential to cause acute or chronic illness, injury, or death if exposure to the substance, activity or condition is not stopped.

The health department follows up on reports of potential human health hazards to protect public health, safety and general welfare and to maintain and protect the environment for the people of Chippewa County.

Health hazards which result from an unreasonable activity or use of property that interferes with the health and safety of others are the targets of our activity.

Specifically, the following conditions may constitute a human health hazard:

1. Garbage and refuse.
2. Unfit buildings.  
3. Dilapidated buildings.
4. Insanitary public restrooms.
5. Animal carcasses.  
6. Air pollution.  
7. Noxious odors.   
8. Unbarricaded openings.  
9. Nuisances.  
10. Surface water pollution.  
11. Groundwater pollution.  
12. Wastewater and sewage.  
13. Accumulation of refuse.
