Current Available Chippewa County Jail Programs
- Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) – Using a set of spiritual principles, the AA’s Twelve Traditions, to achieve recovery and support others in their journey. Provided by local AA community members. Available for males and females.
- Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) – Substance use counseling group proctored by Aurora Community Counseling. Available for males and females.
- Anger Management – Christian faith-based program offered through Good News Global to assist in recognizing anger and changing the way it may be expressed into a healthier way. Available for males.
- Bible Study– Christian faith-based Bible Study serviced through Good News Global and their designees. Available for males and females.
- Chaplain 1:1s: Individual non-denominational meetings by request. Serviced by Good News Global and their designees. Available for males and females.
- Cognitive Behavior Intervention – Employment Adult – Explains how replacing risky thinking can change the course of ones life; actions and reactions. Class focuses on success in an employment setting and is offered through Workforce Resource Inc. Available for males and females.
- Community Re-Entry – Assistance to individuals who will be released in the near future to get back on their feet. May provide various resources depending on the individual’s needs. The jail partners with Chippewa County Criminal Justice Services for this program. Available for males and females.
- Creative Writing – Allows exploration into one’s creative brain on various topics. Available for males and females.
- Family Support Center 1:1s – Advocates from the Family Support Center meet individually with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking upon request. Available for males and females.
- Financial Wellness – Financial education courses led by Associated Bank’s Community Outreach Officer. Topics covered include credit, budgeting and money management, loans, and debt. Available for males and females.
- GED/HSED and Continuing Education – Education classes offered through Literacy Chippewa Valley. Students can achieve their GED/HSED or take courses to obtain vocational certificates. Available for males and females.
- Haircuts – A local, licensed beautician periodically provides a haircut service to inmates. Available for males and females.
- Inmate Workers – Qualified inmates may be employed to do various tasks throughout the jail, receiving extra meals or sentence credit in return. Available for qualifying males and females.
- Jail Based Competency Review (JBCR) – Service provided from various local agencies who meet with inmates as per a court order. Available to those to who it is so ordered.
- Law Library – Legal resources accessible on the kiosk for inmates to review in their housing unit. Available for males and females.
- Literary Resources – Materials accessible for reading purposes. Donated by local libraries, schools, or organizations. Available for males and females.
- Mental Health Counseling – Qualified Mental Health Professionals are available 20 hours a week to meet with inmates by request of the inmate, jail staff, or medical staff. Available for males and females.
- Narcan Education –Education and training on Narcan and overdoses presented by the Chippewa County Department of Public Health. A bag of resources is placed in their property for use upon release. Available for males and females.
- Narcotics Anonymous (NA) – Guiding and supporting others in their path to finding a new way to live. Encouraging hope and the promise of freedom. Provided by local NA community members. Available for males and females.
- Parenting Education – Discussing various parenting-related topics from challenges and coping skills, to discipline vs punishment, and traumas. Accessible through the Family Resource Center. Available for males and females.
- Parents Sharing Books – A way for incarcerated parents to gift their young children a book during the winter holiday season. Literacy Chippewa Valley provides the resources for this program. Available for males and females.
- Pathways Home 4 – Providing guidance and necessary tools to individuals who are scheduled to be released within 270 days. Preparing them to find employment once released. The jail partners with the Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, Inc. for this program. Available for qualifying males and females.
- Recovery Materials – Various literary materials on the topic of recovery from substance addiction. Donated by area organizations and individuals. Available for males and females.
- Re-Entry Ready Education – Teaches tips and tools such as money management, understanding a credit score, and prioritizing debt payments. The UW-Extension Chippewa County office presents this class. Available for males and females.
- Religious Services – Non-denominational services propagated by Good News Global and their designees. Available for males and females.
- Religious Resources – Materials accessible to inmates of various denominations provided by Good News Global. Available for males and females.
- Rent Smart Financial – Education on budgeting, rental applications, finding affordable housing, and more. The UW-Extension Chippewa County office presents this class. Available for males and females.
- STD Testing and Education – Quarterly, the Chippewa County Department of Public Health conducts free STD testing and provides educational material to those tested. Available for males and females.
- Thinking for Change – Good News Global Chaplain offers a faith-based study that addresses eight criminal thinking errors that are common to the inmate culture and provides biblical steps to change. Available for males.
- Veteran’s Employment Services – VRSI employed veterans provide professional assistance to veterans to attain their maximum vocational potential through mock interviews and resume building. Available for male and female veterans.
- Voting Education and Registration – Local volunteers from the League of Women’s Voters share information on voting rights, voting eligibility, and assist those that qualify in registering to vote in upcoming elections. Available for males and females.
- Women’s Support Group – Advocates from the Family Support Center meet with female inmates to provide a safe and confidential space to engage in discussions on various topics. Available for females.
- Workforce Resource Inc – Assists qualifying individuals with job skills, preparing to go back to school, or obtain employment. The jail partners with Workforce Resource Inc. to enroll qualifying inmates in one of WRI’s programs that they can continue upon release. Available for males and females.
