Locations of Water Refill Stations in Chippewa County

The Nitrate Remediation Project has been created to improve the quality of groundwater in Chippewa County, while maintaining a productive agriculture industry.  Funding for this project has been obtained through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and was approved by the Chippewa County Board of Supervisors on July 12, 2022.

There are several components to the project:

• Promote widespread cover crop use in nitrogen sensitive areas
• Work with geologists/local plumbers to identify areas for community water refill stations
• Promote custom no-till planting
• Develop program to track results of remediation
• Develop information education program
